I started blogging in 2013 under a different blog name, and then decided to take a break to finish planning my wedding & get settled into married life. I thought the break would last about one year or so, but life carried me down a few different paths! I’ve grown so much both personally & professionally and decided to try out posting again, just a couple of times a month to start.
Joyfully Kind is a lifestyle blog dedicated to being a source of inspiration for women who love leadership, organization, beauty, home decor and family life.
As a side note, I may slowly re-share some of the most popular posts from my first blog that seemed to really connect with people as I get more into this… we’ll see!
Where did the name Joyfully Kind come from?
I have always felt this internal need to help people, especially when it comes to sharing resources, ideas and valuable info. It means a lot to me when I can share something that causes someone else to then have a positive experience. If there is something I’m loving, I want you to know about it! Why? Because if there is even a small possibility it can bring you JOY, I’ll tell you allllll about it! Probably with too many details and a healthy dose of enthusiasm. (If you’re into the Enneagram, I’m a 2– I want to help others however I can! It motivates me and it’s very fulfilling to me.) I’ve been told that I’m “that friend” that people go to when they need a good recommendation, some logical advice or a little joyful positivity & encouragement. I’m hoping I can be “that friend” to whoever reads this as well.
That’s where the “joyfully” part came from… now the “kind” part: Whenever I would think about starting to blog again, I would find my thoughts drifting to this place where I would feel compelled to talk about kindness. I tend to think of kindness as a spiritual muscle. We have to practice it so we get better and better.
I think we as humans have ways of rippling out in this world in a way we aren’t even conscious of. Because of this, we have a responsibility to not hurt people. It’s an ongoing art to master: Be kind. Be gentle. Don’t harm people with words or actions. Be present and be a loving person 100% of the time. I think people are drawn to kind people because they embody those characteristics.
“We get so worried about being pretty. Let’s be pretty kind. Pretty funny. Pretty smart. Pretty strong.” – Britt Nicole
A few random things about me: Some of my favorite things include planners, purple colored anything, list making, leadership content, and technology that simplifies life. Food wise, my favorites include: Triscuit Crackers, Vanilla Coke, strawberries and popcorn. I tend to accidentally accumulate colorful pens, paper goods like notecards, cute kitchen towels, cocktail napkins with sayings, pretty coats/jackets, cups and hair clips.
Whether you’re a new follower or have been following along from the beginning, thank you SO much for reading and supporting Joyfully Kind. I will never be able to express how much it means to me.
